"Change" is: Radically altering core beliefs to match any audience

"Hope"? Well, that's praying that the facts evolve to meet your ever-changing claims

"Do you think Barack Obama says what he believes most of the time, or does he say what he thinks people want to hear?" asked the New York Times in a recent poll -- and Fifty-One percent of respondents said Mr. "New Politics" Obama says "what he thinks people want to hear."

Further, Fifty-Seven percent said Obama "has changed his position on important issues in order to get elected" -- something that 41% credited with lowering their opinion of Obama.

Perhaps, as Ed Morrisey says, "the “new politics” halo is officially off" of the Chosen One.

The more Obama talks, the worse this should get.

Hi Jeff,

I really appreciate your website. Great job.
My reason for writing you this morning is to ask why Steve Forbes savy and economic genius has not been tapped more often by those in the Republican party throughout the years. I saw him briefly on the Today show this morning and was once again impressed by his knowledge. Do you think that this is a man that John McCain should pull onto our team as an economic asset?

Our country does legitimately need to change its Social Security and Medicare systems that, if left unchanged, will be far greater than the entire size of today's government vis-a-vis GDP in 20-30 years. Obama offers no solution to these crises except to uncap the payroll tax, which will only exacerbate the long-term social security crisis because payroll taxes are linked to benefits. Our country does need to stand up to special interests who receive billions of subsidies via the tax code, such as unions, social security recipients, life insurance companies, owners of home mortgages, high tax local governments, and any institution that qualifies as a charity such as Leona Helmsley's dogs. Obama challenges none of these. Obama's campaign of "change" is a tired bromide that has been invoked by nearly every challenger to the incumbent party in recent years such as Bill Clinton in '92.
