The paratroopers of C Co 2-505 Parachute Infantry Regiment (82nd Airborne) celebrate the 4th of July at Patrol Base Olson in Samarra, Iraq -- halfway around the world from their home country.
This video was taken by a regular digital still camera, so the sound of the guitar bleeds in and out as the "fireworks" go off. Specialist Alexi Scalco, radio operator for Charlie Company commanding officer CPT Buddy Ferris, is playing the guitar (which is plugged in to a radio amplifier and the Patrol Base loudspeaker system), and his fellow paratroopers are providing the sound and light show with a little help from a Special Forces team in the area.

Awesome!
I remember Independence Day in Ramadi last year, I was able to obtain 8 cases of czech tall boys from some local sources. It was only like 2 beers per guy, but it made it feel just a bit more like home. You do what you can. We were'nt blessed with a musician like this guy. Good times.
And God bless them everyone!
everywhere! God Bless you all and God less America!!
In reply to the person who said." Mc Cain has to earn my vote" I say
Ask not what your vote can do for you rather ask what your vote can do for your country.
Ask me not who i am voting for, but rather ask me what I am voting for.
Senetor McCain has proven himself throughout his life.
Election campaign is and as it should be "Showtime"
But if you are still at the rehersal stage. I'm afraid you missed the show.
Mc Cain is a standing ovation
Thanks for your service and God speed you all coming home safely.

Words count but votes are counted. Whatever the volunteers want, politically.

God bless you all and God bless the USA!
This is the kind of spirit I like to see in our military. I hope that these men "stumbled upon" some cold beers that night. I also hope that they all come home safely.
Be honest. Would anyone here like to close with and engage this group? I guess if you were short enough on virgins it might make sense.
Cool.
It means alot to know that those forward deployed got to celebrate a little bit too - we were certainly thinking about them as we celebrated what they're fighting for.
Now that's what I call "celebratory gunfire."
Glad to see the Cap'T didn't change the words.Best I saw this forth.
